First Day of Kindergarten - In the Room

As soon as we got into the room, all the kids had to put their folders in a bin, their lunches on a table, their cups by the sink, and their backpacks in their lockers. Luckily we went to "Meet the Teacher Night" so he knew where his locker was, and all his supplies were already at his desk.

After we dropped him off, Andy went home, so he could leave for work, and I went to the mom's breakfast. I guess I was suppose to be emotional about Drew starting life in the big bad world... but I wasn't. He was ready for it, and I was too. It hasn't been all smooth sailing, but after a bit of a rocky start, and a few trips to the doctor, we have settled in great. He loves school, loves to learn, and has made a good impression on his teacher.

First Day of Kindergarten - The Walk

We are lucky enough to be able to walk Drew to school, most of the time. I sure was glad when the weather cooled off, it made the trip much nicer. However, the start of allergy season has kind of put a damper on the walking. I just haven't been up to it the last week or so.

I have been amazed that Drew actually has carried his own backpack every time we have walked. He never even asked us to do it.

I had to take a picture by this school zone sign because he looked so small next to it.

It was so nice that Daddy could join us on the walk for the first day.

About to turn the corner to his classroom... here we go.

First Day of Kindergarten - Getting Ready to Go.

I am so far behind on blogging that Drew just finished his first 6 weeks of school and I am just now blogging about the first day. Whew, life gets busy when kindergarten starts. Better late than never right.

Drew has been so excited about his first day of school. I was a little surprised that he was able to sleep the night before. We set his alarm for him, laid out his clothes, and made a list of things he needed to to before he came downstairs (potty, brush, get dressed). He has to all these things every morning before he comes down stairs. He has done a great job of it, unless I forget to the clothes out. I am going to pick out his clothes as long as he lets me.

Here are just a few pictures we snapped before leaving this house.

Silly pictures in his new clothes

Waffles for breakfast... his choice.

Being sweet with his brother before he left.

Puzzle time

For the past 2 days Cooper's nap time has become Drew's puzzle time. He knows that trying to work a floor puzzle while Cooper is awake is pretty pointless, so he gets this one out to work while Cooper is napping. Yesterday was the first time Drew did the whole puzzle by himself. He made sure to tell me not to help him, and not to get Cooper out of bed before he was finished. He did a great job working it all by himself, and decided to try it again today. I hope he will do as well when he starts having homework to do for school.
